The introduction to Reading Rooms was a reading of ‘So, You’ve Heard of Dishwasher Pete, but Have You Heard of Cue Card Wally’ about hosts, hosting, and parasites as a way to introduce the project and invite others to co-host future readings together.
Introduction to Reading Rooms on the terrace of the Estonian Academy of Arts with ‘So, You’ve Heard
of Dishwasher Pete, but Have You Heard of Cue Card Wally?’ read from cue cards.
Cue Card Wally is about a cue card holder who controls the pace of the spoken points by talk show hosts. Their role is in the background, but over time Wally gained visibilty on the talk shows himself.
The reading was accompanied by three supplementary texts bound into the intial invitation ‘tickets’ as a way to continue the conversation in the future.
A friend reads the supplementary texts in a future reading, Reading the Bus from the Lake, as we wait to take the bus back to Tallinn.
The reading of "So, You've Heard of Dishwasher Pete, but Have You Heard of Cue Card Wally" was broadcast as a parasite and hosted on Oh, Radio, the program radio for the Estonian Academy of Arts MA program for Graphic Design.
