READING AMERICA
Co-hosted with:
Zody Burke & Taylor “Tex” Tehan
The first of the readings to be co-hosted were with artists and designers Zody Burke and Taylor “Tex” Tehan from their exhibition Entropy Gauntlet at the EKA Gallery.
We read fragments from Jean Baudrillard’s America, an important text and conversation piece that led to the exhibition taking place and as a way to discuss or own shared contexts of being from the United States and living in Estonia through Reading Rooms.
To work along the idea of fragmented memory the book was passed around to the attendees, reading a paragraph from any page they opened the book to, as if the book had been picked up on the seat of a bus or found in a hotel lobby.
As an introduction to this Reading Rooms, a short text was written. The initial idea of the text was to call a number on a calling card found in the Entropy Hotel as a pre-recorded answering machine message.
